Vancouver Island - Day 9

The storm is still very much right on us with another wet and wild night on the west coast of Vancouver island! We woke in the early hours of the morning, it was pouring with rain so we went back to sleep. We slept well into the morning until my stomach got the better of me and I got up to make food. Radix Mixed berry breakfast this morning, one of my favourite breakfasts we have, Ngaio is currently leaning towards the hot apple and cinnamon breakfast.

The rain kept us tent bound for most of the day, we played many games of “what am I”, Ngaio did some writing and we fantasied about what fresh food we would have with us if we could.

We got out our map and made a few different plans for camps depending on the wind and swell. It’s just a waiting game for the weather to turn now. We keep reminding ourselves not to get frustrated, we decided to come into nature and we knew storms and bad conditions were inevitable. It’s all part of being in the outdoors.

We waited until the late afternoon and walked to the part of the beach only accessible at low tide. It’s so beautiful and feels so exotically different to NZ. We filled our water from a little waterfall in the rocks and spent the afternoon taking photos and exploring.

Hoping we wake to calm skies and a flat ocean tomorrow! Keep your fingers crossed for us.
